Steve Halverson, director since 1997, brings extensive experience, including coaching for Oregon State University and international stints with Peter Burwash International. He offers adult and kids' clinics, game matching, and custom tennis events at Aviara. The six lighted courts, including a stadium with terraced seating, are located near the golf clubhouse, with a shuttle service from the hotel. Court fees are $35 per hour.

The resort is inland from the Pacific, but a paid shuttle service runs daily to Moonlight Bay Beach. Arnold Palmer designed the 18-hole Aviara Golf Club, which hosts the LPGAโ€™s Kia Classic and offers custom club fittings through the TaylorMade Performance Lab. The 15,000-square-foot Aviara Spa features 20 treatment rooms, whirlpools, saunas, steam rooms, and a fitness center. Dining options include Vivace for Italian cuisine, Argyle Steakhouse, and farm-to-table specialties at California Bistro.

The chic, modern rooms feature oversized terraces that offer views of the foothills, swimming pool, golf fairways, or lagoon, depending on the location.
