The Shawnee Indians first recognized the healing powers of these sulfur springs, which later attracted settlers in 1778. Over time, this serene valley in West Virginiaโs Allegheny Mountains evolved into an 11,000-acre resort, with a stately 582-room Georgian hotel and 128 guest cottages. Now a National Historic Landmark, the resort offers a wide range of activities including tennis, golf, bowling, and falconry, along with its famous mineral baths. Spring 2010 saw the opening of The Casino at The Greenbrier, adding table games, slot machines, and upscale dining to its offerings.
