The opening ceremony of the Baku Tennis Academy took place on May 5, 2009. President Ilham Aliyev and his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva attended the ceremony. For the first time, a Tennis Academy is being built in the Azerbaijani capital. The academy’s construction, which began in March 2008 in the 8th district of Baku, is 2.7 hectares. The 4070-square-meter area of โรรฃโรรฃthe complex has all the conditions for this sport. A large-capacity reservoir, pumping station, electrical control room, and transformer substation with equipment imported from Italy have been built here. These facilities will provide the academy with a reliable supply of water and electricity. The head of the state inspected the indoor training courts and got acquainted with the conditions created here. Here, young people will learn the secrets of tennis with the help of professionals. Coaches invited from abroad will teach at the academy. The indoor hall, which is 126 meters long, 36 meters wide, and seats 407 spectators, meets international standards. The area of โรรฃโรรฃeach court is 670 square meters following international standards. A heating and ventilation system meeting modern requirements has been installed here for holding local and international competitions and training in all seasons of the year.
