Carlisle Bay, once a private club, opened as a hotel in December 2003 as part of the CampbellGray Hotels collection, offering an intimate boutique experience on Antigua’s south coast. With 82 ocean-facing suites and 9 tennis courts, it boasts the best court-to-room ratio in the Caribbean, enhanced by the expertise of Antiguan-born PTR-certified pro Kenneth Gonsalves-Barreiro. The resort is a 25-minute drive from the airport, through lush landscapes and low-profile development, reflecting Antigua’s charm with its 365 beaches and historic anchorages like English Harbour. The island remains largely unspoiled, known for its deep harbors and vibrant West Indian culture.

Antigua has a rich tennis tradition dating back to 1975, when the island's first tennis week was launched, eventually evolving into a pro-am event. At Carlisle Bay, tennis pro Kenneth Gonsalves-Barreiro works to raise the resort's profile, offering programs like Quickstart for kids, Cardio tennis, and private lessons, although most guests discover the tennis offerings only after arrival. The resort features eight functional courts (seven hard and one artificial grass), each bordered by tropical foliage, and Gonsalves-Barreiro provides racquets and used balls, as the on-site pro shop is not stocked with tennis gear. Visitors are advised to bring their own tennis balls and accessories.

The beach at Carlisle Bay, lined with coconut palms, offers calm, shallow waters ideal for swimming, with a watersports center for activities like windsurfing and kayaking. The resort features the Blue Spa and a fitness center with TechnoGym equipment, personal trainers, and an open-air pavilion for yoga and Pilates. For families, the Cool Kids Club provides activities for children aged 6 months to 12 years, with tennis offered for kids ages 7 to 12. Dining options include Indigo on the Beach, Ottimo for Italian cuisine, and East, which serves a blend of Asian dishes.

Accommodations at Carlisle Bay range from spacious Ocean Suites to three-bedroom Carlisle Suites with full kitchens, all facing the ocean. The newest Garden and Ocean Suites, housed in three-story buildings along the beach, feature a two-tiered design with a kingsize bed on an upper level and a sitting area below, leading to a full-width terrace with sea views. The large bathrooms offer separate tubs and showers with views, and the rooms include modern amenities like a Gaggia espresso maker, CD/DVD player, and free WiFi. The sleek, contemporary decor is complemented by the tropical surroundings visible from every room.

Carlisle Bay is open from early October to late August, closing briefly in late summer. VC Bird International Airport (ANU) offers direct flights from the U.S., Canada, and London. A $20 departure tax is payable at the airport.
