Our programme was the first in the local area for children this age, as it gives every child at Castle Court the opportunity to reach both their academic and their tennis potential. Under the guidance of performance and high-performance coaches, all children in Reception to Year 2 will play tennis as part of the sport curriculum. As children move through the school and their tennis skills develop, a timetable has been established to allow them to have individual or small-group tennis coaching as part of their school day, without missing out on essential academic lessons. Those children who are then selected to be part of a National LTA programme will have individual support to ensure that they are nurtured across all areas, from their playing skills to their academics, as their tennis commitments increase. Every child’s programme would be individually tailored to suit their development needs.
Castle Court already has a number of children on our elite tennis programme, and it is as a result of supporting them in both their academic and tennis success that this venture has been developed further with more children joining.
