Located just 30 minutes from downtown Orlando and 35 minutes from Walt Disney World, Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills offers a unique Floridian experience. Though off the radar for many tennis vacationers, it boasts a rich tennis history under Cesar Villaroel and was once home to Justine Heninโ€™s 6th Sense Tennis Academy. The resort spans 1,100 acres with 176 accommodations, two 18-hole golf courses, a spa, and various leisure facilities, all set in a tranquil, scenic landscape that feels worlds away from the usual Florida vibe. The surrounding low hills and citrus groves give it a distinct charm and slower pace.

Originally from Bolivia, Cesar Villaroel, a former Davis Cup player, now runs boutique junior academies at Mission Inn Resort & Club, focusing on personalized training for one or two players during extended stays. He also offers clinics, private lessons, and custom camps for adults, featuring unique options like drone-shot match videos and fitness assessments by Pat Etcheberry. The resortโ€™s court complex includes one hard court, six clay courts, four pickleball courts, and four new Beach tennis courts. Additionally, Villaroel organizes sanctioned adult and junior tournaments throughout the year.

Mission Inn features two 36-hole golf courses: El Campeรณn, designed in 1926 by Charles E. Clarke with over 85 feet of elevation changes, and Las Colinas, known for its wide fairways and large greens. The resort also offers the Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy for juniors, a 6,200-square-foot spa, a fitness center, and various recreational amenities including a pool, trap and skeet range, and marina. Dining options include four restaurants, with El Conquistador offering steak and seafood overlooking a fountain plaza.

The spacious rooms feature two queen-size beds with high-backed wooden headboards, a sofa, and a screened-in patio with views of the golf course, tennis courts, or countryside. Amenities include a traditional TV, free Wi-Fi, a coffeemaker, a safe, and a small marble-tiled bathroom with a tub/shower combo. The rooms are decorated with pale yellow stucco walls and botanical prints. Coin-operated guest laundry is available on the first floor of each inn building.

The resort is open year-round, but the prime tennis season is from late September to May. Mission Inn is located 50 miles northwest of Orlando International Airport (MCO).
