Seaside, an architecturally innovative community along Scenic Highway 30A in Floridaโ€™s Panhandle, is inspired by New England villages with clapboard houses and gabled roofs. Its award-winning design by Duany Plater-Zyberk & Company helped popularize “New Urbanism” and served as the setting for the 1998 film The Truman Show. The community features tree-lined streets, white picket fences, and a village green surrounded by shops and restaurants. Among the attractions is the Seaside Swim & Tennis Center, nestled quietly at the end of a sandy path.

Tennis director Tracy Townsend, a former University of North Carolina player, has been a tennis fixture along the 30A corridor for over 20 years. He founded 30A Tennis and focuses on building a community at Seaside by connecting guests and locals through clinics, round robins, and competitive matches. His goal is to create a program that's both competitive and fun, and he's authored a book, Look at All That Room Above the Net, sharing tips with humor and wit. The tennis complex includes four clay and two hard courts, alongside a croquet lawn, playground, and two pools.

The fitness center offers cardio, strength equipment, free weights, and optional personal trainers. The resort features three main pools, two heated in winter, plus additional neighborhood pools and bike rentals. Camp Seaside provides children's programs for ages 4-12, running Monday-Thursday from late spring through summer. Dining options range from casual treats like ice cream and pizza to fine dining experiences.

Lodging options include a seaside inn and cottages with up to six bedrooms.

Seaside is open year-round. Nearby airports include Destin-Fort Walton Beach (VPS), 30 minutes away, Pensacola International (PNS), 90 minutes west, and Northwest Florida Beaches (ECP), about an hour east in Panama City.
