At the foot of Austria’s Wilder Kaiser mountains, Stanglwirt has become one of Europe’s most successful tennis camps, run by Peter Burwash International (PBI) since 1978. The 175-room resort and spa boasts 14 tennis courts, six of them indoors, allowing year-round play. Its stunning location, just an hour and a half from Munich and an hour from Salzburg, attracts a diverse international following. Though the camp offers just two hours of group lessons daily, the breathtaking mountain backdrop and well-maintained red-clay courts make it a unique tennis destination.

Veteran PBI pro Philippe Azar, originally from London, leads the tennis program at Stanglwirt, focusing on rejuvenating the camp and catering to young families. The program includes two hours of group instruction each morning, with additional clinics, private lessons, and a junior camp for kids aged 4 to 16. Stanglwirt offers eight meticulously maintained red-clay courts outdoors and six carpeted indoor courts, all set against the stunning backdrop of the Wilder Kaiser mountains. The resort, located at 750 meters above sea level, provides a unique tennis experience with a touch of Austrian charm.

The Stanglwirt offers a golf training center with a driving range and putting green, and the nearest course is just 2 km away. The spa, built into the hillside, features panoramic views of the Wilder Kaiser mountains, saunas, pools, and a unique salt grotto. Fitness amenities include a 5,400-square-foot Fitness Garden with TechnoGym equipment, a Kinesis circuit, and adult wellness areas. Year-round activities range from hiking and biking in the summer to Nordic and Alpine skiing in the winter, with a children's program offering full-day activities, a water world, and family-friendly dining options included in packages.

The rooms at Stanglwirt range from cozy attic chambers to spacious three-room suites, all featuring warm wood called zirbelkiefer, believed to have healing properties. Each room includes modern amenities like flat-screen TVs, complimentary high-speed Internet, in-room safes, and electronic door locks. Most rooms also offer balconies or terraces with views of the Wilder Kaiser Mountains.

The indoor courts at Stanglwirt allow for year-round tennis, with peak camp activity in July, August, and April. The nearest major international airport is Munich (MUC), about 90 minutes away, while Salzburg (SZG) and Innsbruck (INN) airports in Austria are roughly an hour’s drive from the resort.
