Wailea Resort, located on the lower slopes of Maui’s dormant volcano Mt. Haleakala, boasts five beautiful beaches with soft sands and lava-rock promontories. Protected from rain by Haleakala, this area is arid but transformed into a lush, 1,500-acre paradise with water. The resort features an 11-court tennis complex, three golf courses, five beachfront hotels, various shops and restaurants, and numerous condos.

The Wailea Tennis Club is located about a quarter-mile uphill from the coast, offering sweeping views of Lahaina Roads and the West Maui Mountains. The stadium court, lined with bougainvillea, sits below a two-story clubhouse that houses Joe’s Bar & Grill and a pro shop. Directed by Patrik Ekstrand, a former top-ranked Swedish junior and U.S. collegiate player, the club offers daily clinics, private lessons, and game-matching services. Court fees are $20 per person per day during the December-April high season and $15 the rest of the year.

Wailea features five scenic beaches along its lava-rock-accented coastline and offers 54 holes of golf on the lower slopes of Mt. Haleakala. The Gold Course, designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., is a 7,000-yard, challenging course with unique lava-rock hazards, while the Emerald Course is more forgiving, lush, and flower-filled. The Blue Course, designed by Arthur Jack Snyder, is a resort-friendly layout with wide fairways and large greens. The area's top hotels, including the Grand Wailea and Four Seasons, offer full-service spas and fitness centers.

Wailea offers five beachfront hotels and several condominium complexes. The Fairmont Kea Lani Hotel features suites and villas with rates based on size and view, along with various packages. The Residence Inn by Marriott Wailea Maui, located near the Wailea Tennis Club, offers suite-style accommodations with kitchens and views ranging from island to partial or full ocean views.

Wailea Resort is open year-round and is located about one hour from Kahului Airport, 17 miles north. To reach the resort, follow Keolani Place from the airport, stay left onto Hwy. 380, then turn left onto Hwy. 350/311 (Mokulele Hwy). After approximately 5.5 miles, turn left onto Hwy. 31 South (Pi’ilani Hwy) and follow it for 7 miles until it curves onto Wailea Ike Dr. Turn left at the stop sign onto Wailea Alanui Dr. for most hotels, while the Wailea Beach Marriott is just to the right.
